Daniel Evans directs the West End premiere of Liz Duffy Adam's play, where the two literary icons go head-to-head in a battle of wits and wordplay.

Prepare to see two legendary playwrights as you've never seen them before.

In a new production from Playful Productions, RSC and Elizabeth Williams, Liz Duffy Adam's Born With Teeth makes its West End premiere at Wyndham's Theatre this August.

Starring Ncuti Gatwa (Doctor Who, Sex Education) as 27-year-old sensation Christopher 'Kit' Marlowe and Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve, My Lady Jane) as rising star William Shakespeare, this smart, sexy and irreverent new play plunges you headlong into the high-octane world of two of theatre’s greatest writers forced together in creative union, resulting in a showdown of wits, words and powerplay.

RSC Co-Artistic Director Daniel Evans returns to the West End in his directorial debut for the RSC, following his previous, critically-acclaimed productions of Quiz, American Buffalo, South Pacific and Our Generation

Set and Costume Design is by the Olivier award-winning Joanna Scotcher and Lighting Design by Tony and Olivier award-winner Neil Austin. The Casting Director is Charlotte Sutton, with further creative team to be announced.

Born With Teeth will play at Wyndham's Theatre, London, for a strictly limited 11-week run from 13 August until 1 November 2025.

Tickets start at £25, with 2,000 £10 tickets available for 16-25-year-olds, sponsored by TikTok.

ABOUT THE PLAY

Winter 1591. It is a dangerous time for artists: the country is full of conspiracy and paranoia.

In the backroom of a pub, writing sensations Kit Marlowe and Will Shakespeare are forced together in a creative union. Alone, with the table as their stage and battlefield, they sharpen their pens – and let their genius fly.

Across three secret meetings, the rivals duel and flirt like their lives depend on it – and with spies everywhere, betrayal is so tempting.
