Planning an Education visit FAQs

• Do you do discounted tickets for schools?

  UK state schools and colleges (aged 18 and under) £10
  UK independent schools £16.50
  UK colleges and universities (aged 19 & over) £18

  Monday to Thursday performances for groups of 10+ students. Tickets are subject to availability and one free adult place is provided (and required) for every ten students. The teachers’ free tickets will be placed amongst groups of students and must be used by accompanying adults only.

  These discounts are only available to UK schools during Warwickshire term time. To book, call our Learning Ticket Hotline on 01789 331259 (Monday to Friday, midday - 6pm). Discounts don't apply to Premium seats.

  Overseas schools, colleges and universities can take advantage of our regular group rates. For more information, please contact the Box Office.

• What do I need to know before I visit?

  Seeing a show

  If you are looking to see something in our theatres we have a thrilling season coming up. Find out What's On.

  If you have already booked to see a performance please visit our Seeing a Show page for useful information about bringing your students.

  One free teacher ticket will be provided for every 10 students attending a performance. We require a 1:10 ratio of accompanying adults to under 18s even if this is not your school trip policy. Please sit amongst your students in the allocated seats. 

  Learning Events

  If you are visiting us for one of our Learning Events eg. Student Workshops please check the location of your event before your visit. Our campus includes the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the Swan Theatre, The Other Place and the Clore Learning Centre.

  If you need to book a lunch space for your visit please discuss this with our Box Office team. We have limited spaces but we will talk you through the options available.

  Tours

  If you are visiting us for one of our Theatre Tours please meet your tour guide in the foyer of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre at the stated time.

  Bag checks are in operation. The tour will involve visiting a variety of spaces around our buildings so we recommend not bringing bags if possible.

• Adult/student ratios and supervision

  We understand that organising school trips can sometimes be difficult and we have endeavoured to make sure that planning your trip is as easy as possible. We already have a child protection policy, public liability insurance and risk assessments for all of our activities and spaces.

  As part of these risk assessments we are reliant on schools providing the following:

  • Adult supervision (at a ratio of 1 adult to 10 students), with a minimum of 2 adults to be with the group at all times
  • Teachers or accompanying adults are responsible for the care of group members and their behaviour, and groups should be accompanied at all times.
  • Medical or First Aid provision for all students, including the means to administer specialised care for those with specific medical needs

• Can I download a seating plan?

  You can download theatre seating plans of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Swan Theatre, Barbican Theatre, Cambridge Theatre and any other theatres where we bring our work. 

• What is your Safeguarding Policy?

  We uphold the principle that the welfare of children and adults at risk is paramount, and that all children and adults have the right to protection from abuse and neglect. Our Safeguarding Children Policy and Code of Conduct was established with advice from the NSPCC. See our safeguarding policies.

• Access

  We want everything we do to be accessible to all our audiences, and are looking for ways to break down barriers so more people can enjoy theatre at its best.
