As a teaching theatre we're committed to training the next generation of theatre makers both on and off the stage.

Next Generation, a long term talent development programme, works in partnership with Associate Schools and Associate Regional Theatre Partners to recruit young people to take part in a unique programme. Over a number of years we work with them to develop their skills, create productions and support them in their first steps into the world of work.

Programme Structure

The Next Generation programme includes:

  • ACT: Our young company of actors and performers.
  • DIRECT: A training ground for young directors.
  • BACKSTAGE: Young people learning from our Technical and Production teams.

How do you apply?

Participants in the programme are recruited from the thousands of young people who attend (or have attended) our 300+ associate and partner schools nationwide, in communities that are under-represented in the cultural industries. Find out more about our Associate Schools Programme
