FAQ Next Generation

• Can anyone apply to be part of it?

  RSC Next Generation is a targeted talent development programme and therefore we won't open recruitment to the general public. Over more than 10 years we've built long term partnerships with regional theatres and schools, through the Associate Schools Programme. The young people who take part in these activities are recruited from these schools where we can make the biggest difference, often in areas that experience structural disadvantage.

  Through these partnerships we reach more than 500,000 young people each year from across England.

• Is it open to the whole of the UK?

  It is only across England at the moment because that is where our current funding allows. We’re also very aware that the other nations already operate successful schemes of their own, so want to focus our efforts on the areas that need it most and in which we already operate.

• Will they be guaranteed jobs with you at the end of it?

  We can’t guarantee everyone who has been part of the programme a job at the end of it, but we will equip them to be ready to take that next step into the workplace or on to further training, as well as give them a sense of what careers are available in the theatre.
