Hamlet

William Shakespeare

Our Next Generation Company of 13-18 year olds present their interpretation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet in The Other Place.

'Something is rotten ...'

The state of Denmark is corrupt. That much seems true. But a young prince believes that it goes deeper than just the machinery of government. He suspects murder.

Exploring what Shakespeare's rotten state feels like through the eyes of the younger generation, this stripped back interpretation, created by our young company, looks at how the actions of those in power effect the inheritors of the nation.

Hamlet will be created and performed by members of the RSC Next Generation Act Company, made up of young people recruited from across the county, and with an Associate Director and behind-the-scenes creatives drawn from our Next Generation Direct and Backstage programmes.

Hamlet plays for three performances only in The Other Place.

Directed by Paul Ainsworth with designs by Georgie White and Music by Ben McQuigg.
